Supporting you to feel more able to live the life you want; in St. Helens, the North West, and online across the UK

Welcome, I’m Heather
As a Clinical Psychologist I am trained in various forms of therapeutic approaches and styles. This means I am able to support you with various challenges and difficulties, from supporting you to manage emotional distress and anxiety, to helping you to heal from trauma, to providing a space for you to explore who you are, why you may be self-critical, or why you may find yourself repeating unhealthy relationship patterns. I can also support you if you are struggling with a physical health change, condition, or diagnosis.
Feeling stuck? You’re not alone.
Life can be beautiful. And it can also be really, really hard.
Maybe you:
- feel overwhelmed by anxiety, trauma or emotional distress
- find it hard to make sense of patterns that keep repeating
- wish you could be kinder to yourself but don’t know how
- struggle to trust yourself or to feel calm in relationships
- want to heal from experiences that still affect you today
If that resonates, you deserve support that feels safe, compassionate, and empowering.
Available appointments
In-person: Friday day time
Online via video-call: Weekday evenings
I offer a free consultation so that we can figure out if I am the right therapist for you.
In the therapy room, you can expect:
- a calm, empathetic space to tell your story without judgement
- help understanding why you feel the way you do and how to change it
- practical tools to regulate emotions, overcome barriers put in place by self-criticism, and grow in self-compassion
- a therapeutic approach tailored to you and developed with you, using a psychological formulation, not a one-size-fits-all model
Whether you are healing from trauma, managing anxiety, navigating life transitions, or simply want to feel more at ease in your own skin – I believe that therapy can help you feel unstuck and more like yourself.

I have been told I have a calming influence in the therapy room. I aim to help you to feel comfortable and listened to.
Do you need a cup of tea to help you to relax into the therapy appointment? Let me know and I’ll have one ready for you.
Why this matters
People often tell me that one of the first things they notice is how listened to and understood they feel, not rushed or judged. In that calm, supportive space, therapy becomes a little easier, and real change becomes possible.
You deserve to feel:
✔ more connected to your emotions without being afraid of them or controlled by them
✔ more compassionate toward yourself
✔ able to live the life you want, not just the life you manage to survive
If you are reading this and thinking “I can’t do this”, please know that many people begin therapy feeling exactly like that. This is when therapeutic support can make a difference to you and I will always move at your pace, without pressure to do anything that feels too threatening or scary. This includes telling your story.
You do not have to open up old traumas in order for therapy to help you.
There are many approaches we can take.
Therapeutic approaches
I typically support people using a blend of approaches including narrative based therapy, compassion focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy.
In Spring 2026, I will be launching a Compassion-Focused Group. Please click here for more details.
We can arrange a free 15 minute consultation (a conversation) to figure out if I seem to be the right person to support you. If not, I will do my best to share resources and other support services with you.

I can support you in person or online
Our therapy sessions are provided online via video call or in a warm, comfortable therapy room in St. Helens, Merseyside, in the North West.
